1976 Lancer with a mercruiser 233 (Ford 351w) and MC-1 Alpha. I am changing my lower shift cable and found that I cannot lift the brass adjustment barrel out of the receiver. I removed the cutter pin already. Funny thing is that I have removed the barrel easily several times this season for on water adjustments. Any idea why its such and ideas for removing. I've sprayed kroil on it, tapped it with a hammer and punch, and even tapped a flat blade screwdriver blade between the barrel and receiver sleeves. All to no avail.

That's just corroded up, and is stuck. Was thinking since maybe there was something in a bind, but the pic shows, it should come straight up without issues, and it did it before, so it should do it again

Get a small flat tip and place under the barrel to pry it up

Some coke and or baking soda and vinegar may dissolve the substance

I ended up having to remove the mechanism housing the brass barrel and used a hammer and punch to knock out the brass barrel. All good now. Thanks.
