It's an OMC, or at least think its one because its in the OMC section, thanks
What OMC is it?
What drive?
Is this a new to you boat or have had it for some time?

See if the cable is moving on the shift plate when the throttle is moved FWD/REV. If it is then need to pull the drive to see if the cable is not broke and is moving the shift mechanism

be specific about which drive you have (there are many that carry the OMC name)

in general
if its a stringer, likely culprits are vertical drive shaft, ball gears electric solenoids or shift cable
if its a cobra, likely culprits are coupler, prop hub or shift cable
if its an SX, likely culprits are coupler, splined sleeve or prop hub or shift cable

you have a mechanical shift stringer .

go have someone shift it in and out of forward and reverse while you observe the shift converter (its on the top rear portion of the engine and will be white with switches and the cable for shifting) make sure the arm is moving when they are moving in and out of gear .

if that part is moving , then you have a lower shift cable problem

If you look around the back of your engine there should be a tag. Most often on the rear starboard motor mount, that tag should read something like 574FTHRCRA 1984. That will tell you what you have.
