I Have a 27' sea ray with a 260 mercruiser. While coming in this weekend the boat got stuck in reverse only.I could throttle and the controls felt normal. For history I've never had a problem shifting before. We reversed back to open water and looked at the linkage. (Didn't shut it down for fear of neutral safety)Nothing looked abnormal, so we reversed it to the dock.
I got it home and looked while trying to shift.
No cable seems to be broken and nothing seems suddenly out of adjustment. It seems that most of the linkage is attached to the port riser/manifold
and this is as far as I've gone. When you move the throttle/shift lever, things move.
I'm not too mech incl "but" this sounds like a
adjustment or maybe a cable that isn't working correctly. please provide guidance or at least a starting point.
thanks
Randy12

Re: stuck in reverse

Sounds like you have a broken lower shift cable. With the drive up ,lay down under it ,with the top of your head near the transom of the boat.Look up and you will see two golf club looking shafts that fold into one another. Those shafts should pivot when the remote control is shifted. Is that happening?
