I can't get my power head out of my boat. I have disconnected every thing according to the service manual. It has been suggested that the spine might be rusted in the motor. My question, after removing the impeller shaft can I remove the bolt, gears, and seals from the pinion shaft and pull the shaft up through the pump cover? or will the pinion shaft cover not allow it to push through in that direction

Re: stuck spline sport jet 90

Is this a salt water boat? I can't imagine a way to remove the four screws securing pinion shaft housing to drive housing without pulling the power head. Are you sure all eight nuts are removed from the adapter flange? Which boat is this on, some of the powerhead installations are so tight, you could think you are free, but you are hanging up on something.

Incidentally, the crankshaft with the mating splines are not common to any other installation, so if you do have a stuck/corroded spline, you have a problem.
