Stuck steering

I took out a 78 Ebko tri-hull for the first time Sunday. 140 Merc I/O ran great. It goes forward - it goes in reverse. The outdrive goes up and down. But the steering wheel seems locked. The outdrive does not turn left or right. It appears to be hydraulic steering ... the wheel goes to a "wing shaped" cylinder behind the console, with a hard line going from there to the stern. Any suggestions on getting me out of the no wake zone on my next trip?

Re: Stuck steering

Sounds like you may have cable steering, I only say that because of the size boat. Your discription leaves a lot to be desired.
You problem is probably in the aluminum tube where the stainless steel cable end goes through it back on the transom sheild. Those things are noted for freezing up with corrosion.
Get a torch and heat it up and put pressure on the steering (not enough to break it) to get it moveing and spray some PB Blaster in it or some type penetrating oil. Once you get it freed up, remove the cable from the tube and clean it out, lube it and put it back together.
