stuck tack cable?

hi folks, <br /><br />just bought a used 17' Arima and noticed that the rpm tack gauge with the engine not running is showing at 1800 rpm. <br /><br />is this normal or do i have a stuck cable somewhere? <br /><br /><br />thank you, any help is appreciated!<br /><br />boataddict

opps....clumsy me.....it has a 90 hp mercury outboard.<br /><br />thank you.

does it go to zero with the key on ?<br />and does it work when running ??<br />if so there is no problem ...<br />It is electric , not cable driven
