I have a AQ125 and my exhaust bellow is bad. new is $100 plus. and part wont be in, in time for this weekend. Here is my question, Can I use a type of radiator or re-enforced hose to use temporally until part come in or is that a big NO NO??

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

Its not even a required part. Just use it as is and replace when you have the time to do so. Go enjoy the weekend!

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

the other question is this when I tried taking that billow off the exhaust manifold it looks like it does not come off easily. Do I have to remove the exhaust manifold to get the billow off?

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

Oh, are you referring to the rubber exhaust tubing inside the boat, between the riser and y-pipe? I thought you were referring to the external exhaust bellows on the outdrive. You can try a temporary fix like rv silicone for just a weekend. I had one burnt and it was difficult to get anything else to seal up and not leak.

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

yes this is for the interior but I do not have a y pipe it iss just a single pipe 4 cylinder engine. but in order to replace it does the exhaust manifold have to come off the engine? What is the easiest way to remove that rubber bilo and replace it

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

For a 4-cylinder, you will need to remove the riser from the manifold . That will allow you to take off/put on the bellows.

Remove the clamps (20) from the bellow (21). Remove the bolts holding on the riser (22). Riser will come off and then the bellow can be taken off. You don't have to remove the actual manifold (1). Get new gaskets (4) for reassembly.

Hope that helps,
-Keith

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

Interesting design there. I think I'd be taking the manifold off to get to the exhaust boot.

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

That's because lonewolf posted the diagram for a completely different engine, a 3.0L engine, which you don't have.

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

with taking the exhaust manifold off besides the bolts holding it in place and replacing the gaskets are there any other hidden surprises I should be aware of?

Nope...very straight forward.

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

So just remove bolts and replace gaskets then. Sounds easy enough.

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

Before pulling the manifold, try removing the rubber boot first. You may find, you can slip the rubber boot in without removing the manifold. Worth a try.

Re: Stupid Question about exhaust bellows

tried that. no go. not enough clearance between two ends. exhaust manifold was very simple to take off. now to get new hose today and re-install.
