Hi everyone,

Can I remove a couple of intake manifold bolts to install some lift-point brackets and a bracket for some relays/wiring, without needing to use new gaskets and china wall?

The engine has NOT been started since I replaced them all.

Thanks!

Don't see any issues as long as you didn't lift up on the manifold at all...

I would clean the threads up and reseal if applicable but you should be fine.

assuming V-motor.

I myself suggest the accessories holes in the ends of the heads vs the manifold bolts for lifting. however only pull two at a time, pull fasteners, clean , then re-seal the threads

Can't say I disagree, but Merc install the lift eyes on the intake manifold bolts... Never seen a problem with them...

Chris........

merc also designed the 470 and vaser.......

a 3/8" bolt in sheer is 10x stronger than two 5/16 (M8) bolts in tension, especially if you know anything about rigging and sling angle deductions
