is it ok to use that press wood 'aspenite' in a fiberglass boat?(arkansas traveller skijack)

i'm pretty sure the stuff is very weather resistant, and shouldn't rot.

has this been discussed before? can i get a link?

I cannot recommend using any sort of "particle board" unless it is specifically engineered for use in marine applications.
This is of course assuming you want your repair to last for a long time.
Given the rot problems associated with using any sort of wood, using one as far down the ladder as particle board or "aspenite" is just asking for trouble down the road in my opinion.

If it's sealed properly with fiberglass or epoxy I don't see why not, don't forget the IF

If you are not planing on sealing it, forget it, that thing will swell like there's no tomorow

If you don't want to use marine plywood, just get some pressure treated or exterior plywood. If you use PT, let it dry for a few weeks before you use it. It will want to warp as it dries. One poster here screwed his to his garage wall while it dried. I think that's an excellent idea. Either way, seal all sides and edges with resin. Use at least 2 coats as the wood will soak up the first coat. Cut it out as accurately as possible or you'll waste a lot of resin filling the gaps at the edges, btdt. BTW, the chemicals in PT will eat certain types of screws over time.

I'm afraid that aspenite (OSB) will just fall apart.

NO. Aspenite also commonly known as OSB will fall apart when it gets wet. Use exterior grade ply and seal it up with resin.

Have a great day,

Besides the fact that it will fall apart, it has poor strength. I have an OSB subfloor in my home, and the one area that is above my soon to be bedroom downstairs is under the living room...you can hear people just lightly walking across it like they were pounding on a drum. It flexes horribly. I would not trust it, ever.
