Im looking at purchasing this boat I saw. Its a really nice hull, but the inboard was submerged in Fresh water, the boat partially sank. The owner has tuned up and started the engine a few times since and it seems ok. Would there be any long tme issues with this?<br /><br />Any adivce would be great!

I would check for soft spots in the flooring and transom. I would check for water in the oil, make sure it is all out. Same for the gas. Same also for the outdrive. All in all you would probly be OK, once you get all the water out of everything. I am guessing that it wasn't under water long?

Im not sure, I would have to ask the owner. Its a nice boat and has been cleaned up after it was submerged. The hull is a '92. Im just concerned about the engine or rust because it was submerged.

If it didn't sit underwater long it should be OK. My motor had a lot of water in it from a cracked manifold when I bought it, after quite a few oil changes and a carb rebuild it runs good. You just don't want to be running it much with water in the outdrive. If it is good price, it would probly be worth it. I would ask how long it sat underwater, days or an hour.

well insurance companys will total a boat pretty easly because of all the hidden issues like if it had foam flotation that is now wet and heavy <br /><br />its a lot like termites that you see about the time the wall falls down<br /><br />tommays

i dont no anything about the boat but in general I/O boat hulls have all kinds of places that were not built to drain the water out of after a sinking<br /><br />compared to an open hull like a small boston whaler that has almost no were to trap water<br /><br />in general things like the starter ,trim pump ect ,ect need to be taken apart to get all the water out of them or they will fail at some point <br /><br />the labor to due it right will often be more than the coat of the part<br /><br /><br />tommays

The boat was partially submerged for about two hours.

Like stated above, I would be concerned about issues other than the motor.<br /><br />Keep looking.

anything electrical that got wet, including wiring, should be suspect. after only 2 hours, chances are things might be ok but the potential for failure is still there. do you trust the 2 hour estimate? do you know the previous owner? owned a boat before?<br /><br />soaked foam will not dry out, esp if water is trapped under the flooring.<br /><br />"Would there be any long tme issues with this?"....there's always that potential with any boat. the chances are much higher with this one since you know it's been under.
