Hi All,

I am replacing a impeller on a 25 hp 2 stroke mercury. I just noticed that the manual calls for a bit of 2-4-c w/ teflon to go on the water pump assembly insert that houses the large o ring under it and the water pump assembly above it. Naturally I did not notice this at the boat shop. Is there something that I can use in place of this? What is the general consistency and weight of it?

Below I have included a picture of the parts I'm talking about. You can see where they say to add the 2-4-c w/ teflon. The part I'm looking at is labeled number 26.

I am hoping to put this together tonight. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

It's just a marine grease, albeit a pretty good one.

2-4-C comes in a good sized squeeze tube, and is handy for all sorts of things on the engine, such as splines during assembly, water pump assembly, a few linkages, etc. Good idea to own a tube.
