SUCCESS with 8hp fuel pump and carb rebuild

1985 8Hp Evinrude would start but only run with full choke. I purchased the OMC "SysteMatched" replacement parts for the fuel pump and a Sierra carb kit - cleaning everything with carb cleaner and blowing out with compressed air. The motor now runs like new.<br />The fuel pump is tricky and impossible without the illustrations and careful dissasembly as the same parts can be assembled in many different ways depending on which motor it's from.<br />Many thanks to JB and OBJ for ideas and support.<br />I am Frustrated no more !

Yes - until something else goes.<br />They have nice 6hp Evinrude 4 stroke at the dealer - do you have an opinion on these or heard of good / bad experience ? They wanted $1,500 (Cdn) for it - I think last year's model.<br />Is there another forum for reviews of outboard motors?
