Such thing as a "Battery Percent" gauge?

Hey,

I go fishing and have my radio/fish finder/lights etc on for long periods of time with the engine off, so I was thinking of installing a battery percent gauge for each of my batteries. I always carry a jump pack in case the batteries die, but I would really like to know what I have in the batteries.

I went to Went Marine and the guy told me they did exist but he did not carry them. Does anyone know where I can buy them, or even if they are real?

If you are looking at the guage sold by Cabela's, make sure you take a moment to read the ratings at the bottom of the page. I liked the looks of it, but worried about the poor quality reports.

There is a simple solution. Its called a voltmeter. Harbor Freight tools sells them for $3.00 and change.

12.65 volts is 100%......12.3 volts is 50%....and so on. (these numbers are not exact, its just an example.)

Lead acid batteries, AGM and Gels have slightly different values, so you need to google your battery type for the correct answers.

I agree with separate or switchable voltmeter(s) they will also show you if the batteries are being charged ... or not...
