Sucked an impeller

Ran the motor dry until it got very hot(stupid). New oil, new impeller, new thermostat. new riser gaskets. I built a backflush plate for thermostat . removed Watrpump. back flushed more impeller out of block. motor runs smooth but starts to run hot at 2500 rpm. Head gasket?

Did you just replace the impeller or the whole pump?
You don't say which VP motor, however you could have a bad raw water inlet casting if it's an AQ drive

sorry AQ260/ 280 drive it had a new jabsco recently 100 hrs. I have intake bypass for shore flushing and failed to put it back in water selection.

Also new inlet on the drive 20 hours ago.
