Suction cup mount

Hi all,
Fishing newbie here. I'm considering purchasing an Eagle Fishmark 320. I want to use this unit for freshwater fishing and remove it during the summer boating season. I'm just curious to know how the suction cup transom mount holds up. Do you keep this suction mount on while you are on plane or do you only use it during trolling speed. Also, on an 18 foot bowrider, is it better to mount the tranducer off the trolling motor or on the transom? I plan to fish crappie, blue gills, bass, and catfish in freshwater lake (3-50 feet). Thanks.

put it on and just leave it. you will keep picking the unit off the deck, with the suction cup. the sun eats them, they become unpliable, hard, and don't stick.

i mount my on the transom. use it as the depth finder when not fishing.
