Gents, so after a lot of bad noise last year with a boat that I purchased from a real "stand up guy" in Dickson County TN...............My motor is running top notch. After the Johnson Sea Horse 35 burned up due to some internal issues I started to restore the boat and found so many issues that it just became too much to deal with so I scrapped it. Its amazing that it didn't sink or catch on fire the one time that I did have it out on the water.
Bondo and electrical issues galore.
Anywho, during the winter I purchased an 83 Evinrude 35HP Long shaft that needed some work. I got it for $100 bucks in order to have someone do some work on it for me. I found a motor mechanic at work who specializes in older OMC motors and was able to work some magic and create a frankenmotor from the two.
There are still a few issues with rigging up an ignition as the systems between the motors were slightly different. He wasn't the most dialed in with those as everything that we use for work is cable start only. That is an issue for another time.
So now that he has replaced about $600 worth of parts for free (old inventory) and got her dialed in..............what should I do with it? What are some sizing options that I have in terms of boats? It has forward controls, but will need a steering wheel.
I would like to get her painted up with some colors that are similar to the factory ones and then I can go from there.
Pictures coming soon!
