Doing a tune-up on a 5.7 and have had several people comment on the difficulty of removing the rotor. My car mechanic of 20 years said the same thing after telling him what I was to.

Any suggestions from those who may have perfected a process for this?

Mercruiser manual said to use two long flat tip screwdrivers, one on either side of the rotor housing and pry up on the rotor with the tips. Didn't work so, like Bond-o said, I used a pair of vice grips and crushed the carp out of it. :D

I took a hacksaw and easily cut right down the shaft, took a big screwdriver and tapped it with a hammer and pealed it off.
Thanks to this forum I had no idea how fused on the original was.

I had no cutters for my dremel, just sanders. otherwise might have done that. The hacksaw only took a minute
