Guys
I recently had my boat sanded top to bottom to get the scratches and finish to look better. When I received the boat back from the shop I wanted to bring out the shine on the boat. The guys I guess used 1000 grit sand paper and did the whole boat but you can still see the swirl marks made the sandpaper in places on the boat and after waxing the boat it didn't even touch the marks from sanding.Whats the best thing to bring the shine back from dull after its sanded? Should I just use 1200 sand paper and re sand the boat to even the fiberglass out to wax or can I get the swirls out?

Re: summer time

I may be way off base here but if the swirls are real deep then you may have to wet sand with 1200 then use some good compound to bring out the shine. Afterward a good, quality wax. I think I'd try compound on a section first before the 1200. If that works then prepare for a long weekend.

I've buffed out many a truck and spent HOURS with a high speed buffer. Just don't spend too much time in one spot. Heat created during buffing can cause some serious damage. Be careful and good luck.

Re: summer time

well....that really sux doesnt it...!

tough to tell with out seeing it.
if you paid pros....you can get them to do it again.....free.

if you paid the "guys" to do it.......1000 grit wont touch deep scratches....as it is more of a polishing paper.....

you really need to see how deep the scratches are......

even a 400 wet wont touch a lot of stuff !.....

keep in mind a wet sanding scratch wont ever come out. if you have allready waxed it....you will need to take the wax off and re sand it with a rougher paper......

if its just swirlmarkes in the wax.....just buff them out.

ondarvr can tell for sure.....but there is many different things in play here.

post back and we can help....

cheers
