I properly winterized my 5.7 2 falls ago including an oil change..

That nice fresh quicksilver oil has sat in there for 1.5 years..

Do you folks think I should run it for awhile or change it??

Personally i would change it. But i am over the top on a lot of things. What about the impeller? Do you think it's still ok sitting in one position for so long. What about the battery? See where this could go... :) I am a guy that likes to change things before they crap out... that way i have a trouble free day on the water.

Thanks 9ostingray.. I'm on top of the other stuff.. New batteries, fresh impeller .. fresh fuel.... new plugs and coil..

I've been wondering if the basically unused oil somehow degrades just sitting in there for a year or 2 or if I could expect it to

perform as well as fresh oil... Seems like in general, people change the oil for winterization then in summer run that same oil.. so if it sits for 6 months and is perfectly fine to use , is it that much worse sitting for 15 months?

Run it. Oil doesn't go bad that quick, even if it had a bit of condensation in it (doubtful after only 1.5 years), that little bit of moisture would burn off after a good run out on the water.
