Don't know about Sunbird but if it's not a Sunbird specific part you should post what you need as it may be available somewhere else and you may receive some feedback.

Re: sunbird boats

I suggest that you give further details as to what it is or isn't doing and then hopefully someone can help.

Re: sunbird boats

do you suppose hydrasport would have info on sunbird? i,ve pulled the sending unit from the tank and it seems to work. also the guage works. i think. but the tank it self is only 4 3/4" deep.mabey that is why the guage fluctuates so much. i can never tell if i have a full tank until i fill it.

Re: sunbird boats

i seem to have the same problem. the fuel guage does act up a bit. i have a 65 gal tank, so i don't think its the depth of the tank. from what i've figured out, the best way for me to get an accurate reading is to run the boat a bit, then idle down to neutral and read the guage at that point. not sure if there is any way to "fix" your problem.

Dansoph. If your boat is sitting level and still, are you getting correct readings? Is your tank see-thru?

Re: sunbird boats

my boat is a 17' bow rider with a 20 gal. tank. the guage will bounce up and down quite a lot when we are moving.some times it will read 1/2 atank for awhile then suddenly drop to1/4 or1/8th fast. when i fill it up, it will stay on full for along time. we ski and tube a lot, so the fuel is moving all the time. thanks for any help.

Re: sunbird boats

Guages are not great in alot of marine applications. The fact that there are no or few baffles in many tanks results in more fuel movement for unsteady readings as well as the fact that boats can sit at many angles while in the water and unfortunately there is not much you can do,however, you may want to double check the actual installation and readings of the sender itself as it could need adjustment or replacing.I do not know which sender you have but here is a link to the teleflex site.Even if yours is not a teleflex,it is good reading either way.It may help.Once there you can check out the details on units including how to check them and install them properly.Check out fuel systems, fuel senders and fuel gauges. It's a great site.
Good luck
http://www.tflx.com/tech.html
