Hello all,

I am looking at a 1990 Sunbird Corsair 185 with a 200 hp Cobra I/O. So how are these boats. I did a little research and found that they are now out of production. The boat overall is in great condition, was in a garage almost all of its life, and asking a good price. What is the reputation of these boats, cobra, and since they are out of production, what are the odds of finding parts for it in the future?

Thanks

the OMC part is the problem as there out of buss so repiars are hit and miss

the new parent company is not going to support things forever like OMC did

which leaves aftermarket supplyers in the long term picture

tommays

I have a 97 Sunbird spirit and it has been a good boat. There are better boats out there but they are reasonable well built at a decent price, However i would prefer an outboard than the Cobra, they are not know for been reliable, but at the end what matter is how well the previous owner took care of the boat. my 2cents.

So is it the engine(ford), the outdrive or both that is not to dependable? Engine looks like it is was well taken care of, about 300 hrs on it.

Re: Sunbird...good or bad

I had a circa 1989 Sunbird 20' Barletta. It was very cheaply made. Fit and finish were poor. The boat sat in the water such that the cabin floor was lower than the rear bilge (where the pump was). So after a rain, the cabin floor had a couple of inches of water on it.
