This is an older custom snap cover, but keeps water out and would like to get another 1- 1.5 years out of it until I can get a covered car port for it next to the house. Whats the best way to repair around the snaps, have several that are going to tear more in the near future. I have seen some repair tape that look like it would work on a tear, but not near the stress points of the snaps.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Sunbrella Cover Repair

You need to take it to a awning shop and have them sew 3 inch nylon webbing around the entire bottom of the cover and replace the snaps. Not really anything else you can do.

FYI: My family is in the awning and boat cover business.

What you're looking at is failure of the material. When reds in particular go, they go. Sure you can attempt to patch or reinforce it or move the snaps. But it's gonna tear at that seam line next. Don't believe that's Sunbrella btw. Sunbrella 'decomposes' differently.

That is a cotton duck fabric (thinner weight canvas), not Sunbrella. But, it works as well and usually has a long life if cared for properly.

Any canvas/upholstery shop can do the work. Romive the snaps, stitch in a webbed reinforcement, and replace snaps. No big deal.
