There hasn't been much discussion here on the Superbowl. With a few days to go I'd think there would be more talk. Has the Superbowl lost its novelty? Maybe because the teams involved aren't high profile teams. Seems to me it used to be a bigger event than it is today

Re: Superbowl

It's because there are two teams that are not "big market". There actually is not a lot of excitement around here either. It's almost like everyone just expects the Pats to win, no big deal. 2 years ago was way more exciting. I am wearing a bunch of Pats garb today though, t-shirt, sweatshirt and hat. GO PATS

Gaugeguy, If it isn't a big deal there than where would it be? I'm going to a SB party and I'm sure we'll all be in the spirit but not much pregame hype this year. Might even have to root for the Cats just to stir the pot a little :D

I too am going to a SB party also, and we'll be whoopin it up, it just seems not as exciting as a couple years ago. Like nobody is expecting a good game, almost like the Pats/Colts game was the big one.<br /><br />Maybe down in the Carolina's they are pumped up a bit more  I can see why Texas is wound up, lotta bux coming into town for a couple weeks :D

Also, my designated driver hasn't spoken to me since she caught wind of a fishing trip plan down to Cabo San Lucas without her consent. Oh well, ain't the first time I've lived in a doghouse ;)

I don't seem to be hearing too much about it here either.<br />I am in the same boat as guageguy. I have a party to go to and I am sure we will be into the game but seems like the last 2 or 3 years it just hasn't been much of a big deal. <br />Maybe it's just all the cold weather up here this year. Been worried more about frozen water pipes than who wins the game.

Couple nights in the ole dog house is well worth a trip down to Cabo, man. You can always get a cab home from the SB party :D

Re: Superbowl

I was kinda wondering the same thing.<br />When it comes to the Super Bowl of basket ball, base ball, T ball, or Golf, Everyone gets all excited! But Ive seen little here. A pleasant surprize. I just don't understand why people get all that excited over something that has no effect on thier life! I have seen that people that like football also like to drink beer and watch Bart Simpsom which I wouldnt let be shown in my house. <br />Yes I'm just venting as a non-sports person! :) <br />Two weeks ago we couldn't go cut wood because it was the "PlayOffs"<br />This weekend we can't go cut wood because it's the STUPID BOWL!<br />And heaven forbid I should say lets go fishing on a Sunday! It's Feetball again... no wonder I spend so much time with my wife! She hate sports as much as I do :D :D :D <br />tylerin I'm ofcourse just giving ya a hard time in fun. From my point of view. I've never watched a superbowl but if I were to vote for a team to win I would vote for the underdogs.. the Cards... (gaugeguy) is going to be disappointed) <snicker> ;) <br />Q: What type of Garb do I need to get to be a Card Fan?? :) :) I could do this once on a sunday!

Dang Link its not the Cards its the Cats as in the N.C Panthers. Good time for you and your wife to go to the Mall. Should be empty. She can try on all kind of crap and ask you if it makes her look fat hehehe. For a second there I thought you had ESP til you mentioned Bart Simpson. Never seen it. I watch reality tv. NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL. :D

Didn't get the photo :( Not only that, I dressed my boys in Pats garb to school today :D <br /><br />Gotta have sports to live, gives guys like me something to talk about. If it wasn't for sports, I'd pretty much be a mute :D

Re: Superbowl

The Pats are a dangerous team. Dangerous to the establishment of the NFL. They do not want the Pats to win this one, but why?<br /><br />The Pats have proven that superstars are overrated and maybe have a reduced role in the league going froward. That challenges the self worth of the superstars and challenges the lazy sports media establishment that finds it easy to simply focus on the superstars. It also challenges all of the big sponsors who build their marketing campaigns around them.<br /><br />Look what the Pats have done. 2 years ago Terry Glenn, a potential Superstar receiver cops an attitude and get dropped from the team, the superstar QB Bledsoe gets benched and the Pats go an win the SB. At the beginning of this year the Pats cut Pro Bowl Lawyer Malloy and they win 14 in a row and go to the SB.<br /><br />Many of the superstar QBs past and present hate the Pats. Tom Brady, in his 4th year is going to his second Super Bowl. Tom Brady is not a Superstar. He does not get paid like one and he does not act like one. <br /><br />So, this SB is going to be downplayed and the Pats disparaged as much as possible. The problem is, the Cats prove the same thing but at least it will be their first time and they can claim their front 4 are stars...<br /><br />Anyway...food for thought.

The ELKS club has one of the biggest shindigs going on every year regardless of what teams are in the superbowl.<br />Let's face it, why would other states be suped up their team isn't playing.<br /><br /> :D :D Bring on the game

Re: Superbowl

Well tylerin I told you I wasnt a big sports fan! :) OK yes ur correct Kitty = Cat = Panthers.. Duh I should have known! that are the underdogs? I'll vote for them! I believe its their first time to the superbowl?? See at least I know that! :) <br />I'm waiting for the SeaChickens to be the only team left who has never been to the super bowl to really give these guys a hard time out here :) <br />Now don't get me wrong.. the seahawks will always go to the SuperBowl but only as fans :D <br /><br />And the Mall! About once a year! And I know I'll get to buy a tool or something at Sears and a Hot Fudge Sunday @ 31 Flavors! (I can be bought) ;) <br /><br />As for herself.. she knows better than to ask and I know's better than to say it's Not the Pants! LOL

Re: Superbowl

having my 3rd annual bash this sunday. should be a good time. lots of greasy food and beer. a few pats fans coming, but little support for either team. would have been another story if my birds had survived. i'll stick with a prediction of carolina in a close one.

Re: Superbowl

Maybe a dreaded number .Here at the club it would have paid an automatic $50.00. any double 1/1; 2/2 etc. pays the 50.00 on the superbowl card
