Re: Superbowl

I'd rather watch WWE Wrestling.

At least I know its all staged, unlike the NFL, that uses its officials on the field, to hide behind, to determine what team wins!

Prime example, why was the Panthers not penilized for injuring McNabb????

The hit that caused the injury came a minimum of 5 seconds after the ball was whistled dead!

Because the NFL had already determined that Phillie was not to be a team to go to the "Stupid Bowl", so his injury didn't mean anything to the NFL!

And why is it that the commercials draw more viewers than the game itself???

Commercialism!!

When they take the commercialism out of the game, then I'll become a fan again, and watch the game of Football the way its suppose to be played, by 2 teams meeting each other on the gridiron, and battling it out like men, not like the wimps that now dominate the NFL, who are only there for the endorsments that will make them even more money!

NASCAR will see the same doom with their rule changes too!

Too much "Commercialization" of great sports only leads to their demise!

CART is a prime example!

If something ain't broke, don't fix it!!

For those who will be watching, I hope you can enjoy the game, but as long as the NFL keeps interfering with the play on the field, I'll watch wrestling!

Just my opinion.

At least the ski slopes will be empty!

Re: Superbowl

I have never been a huge fan of watching sports. Playin' em, thats different. I only watch the Superbowl for the comercials, I admit it. Otherwise, I am not into it. I too have not heard as much local buzz about the bowl. Usually I get asked every two minutes what team I am for, and I always reply "whos playing?" and that tends to end that conversation.

LOL! Jason...

I tell them the same thing, or something like:
Who's playing? Uhmm... "The Yankees and the Laker's" or "Yea, I watch the STUPID-BOWL"
That brings a quick end to the conversation too.

99% of sports disgust me.

Football is on the top of my "never-watch" list.
Personally... I'd rather have a root canal than watch football!
It's just amazing how some people lose their minds when the Superbowl comes around. It's like the second coming of Christ or something!

When the players started making more money than a small country, that's what ended it for me (not that I cared much for it in the first place)
Now, this player or that is on some kind of drug, rape or other trouble. It sets a very POOR role model for kids, unlike the good 'ol days of Babe Ruth etc...

I'll be working on the boat project Sunday.
I do like the commercials however. That's the only entertainment I get out of it. :)

I'll also give my Uncle a call. He's a big-shot at Budweiser. It looks like Coors got the sponsor this year, so I need to flick him some grief about it!

H.

Re: Superbowl

I never played football myself, but I always liked it and was intersted in it. I'm not small to play myself.

I watch all the Pats games, and go to two or three home games a year.

The Pateriots really are winners, there is no other way to look at at. They are not the most skilled/gifted team in the NFL, but they know how to win football games.

The great owner and coach have a lot to do with there sucess. Bob Craft didn't like it when the state on MA wound't pay to winden the roads for the new statium last year, so he had to balls to threaten to move the team to CT, that got the govenor moving fast! They did what needed to be done, highway's and everything. He is a great busness man, I shook his hand last year.

As much as I love the Pats, I think this Sunday is going to be a closer game then they are predicting.

We've for a few Texans here, anyone going?

Re: Superbowl

It's late in the 4th quarter and NE Pats are down by two. After a short drive with time winding down Viniteri comes out for an attemp at a 45-54 yd fieldgoal. The ball is up...Its long enoufgh...It's WIDE LEFT...Rahhh.

I'll watch from home and hope it's a good game. The commercials should be good but the real reason I'll watch is......SURVIVOR!!! ( see fav tv program thread )

Re: Superbowl

It's nuts here. Jake Delhomme (quarterback for the Panthers) is from a little town about 10 minutes from here. The entire southern half of Louisiana is going nutty.

Another big name from the other team is from a city about 15 minutes north of here. I can't remember his name, Faulk maybe.

Wait, snapper, let me get this straight. You say the Superbowl is stupid, but WWE is not?

Oh yea, by the way on my birthday last year I was working at the local airport and got to shake Vince Mcman's hand, personally talk to him and I talked to Stephanie without anybody else around. They tiped me 50 bucks!

Re: Superbowl

i'm not really in to this superbowl but i'm watchin it just because i love the game. i would like to see the panthers win but i think the patriots are a better team and they will win easily. at least thats the way i see it.. :p all i'm hearing is how the pats are partying down while the panthers are practicing, and that the pats are taking the panthers too lightly. well maybe some of its true, but when it comes game time i guarantee the patriots will come to play! and win.

Where did you hear that? Sports up here is nutty if these guys were out we'd know about it just like in '86 when we played the Bears and they all got caught out partying... The worst I heard is them having quiet dinners at some of the local restaurants.

All the news here is they are all business. The Gov was staying in the same hotel and said he said he kept running into them the other night and they were all serious. Some other ESPN talking head found Brady in the Hotel gym on the treadmill. The guy asked him why he was in the gym after practice and he said he was sick of just hanging in his room... Doesn't sound like partying to me...

I think the Pats fans are out going nuts. It seems like they out number the Panther people by 50-1 and that's based on the ESPN shows. That does not surprise me because when we played GB we did not have too many fans at the game becuase it was the new ownerships first SB and they had no idea how to coordinate things. Carolina is probably going through that same thing. Us having been there just 2 years ago makes it easy to coordinate everyhting and get more people down there. When we won the AFC, as part of accepting the Trophy Kraft said he wanted everyone down there.

I have to to you, I really wish I went this time. I had a ticket waiting for me and everything but I passed!!!! I didn't want to lay out the cash. But this time it would have been worth it given all the special side parties that were all set up all week.
