Surge brake stuck

Hi all.

After the last time I parked the boat and trailer (backed in) I noticed after I unhooked that the surge brake seemed to be stuck all the way into the tongue of the trailer.

I tried pressing the release under the connection point. It moved freely but did not release the cylinder or surge mechanism. It can not be pulled out by hand either.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Surge brake stuck

My guess is that your master cylinder is going to be empty of fluid and the plunger is jammed all the way in. That will be the beginning of your investigation. Assuming you have drum brakes, you will need to pull them off and inspect the wheel cylinders. May need to replace all items but first thing first is to look at the master cylinder fluid level.

Ayuh,... When parking a trailer with surge brakes,...
Always make sure you pull ahead slightly before unhooking...
