Currently rebuilding a Reinell V-204 1978. Here's the helm before and after. Remodelled using 3/4 ply, then skinned and faired with GRP and finally sprayed with Jotun two-pack. Cheers, UK Peter.
Edit: disregard, looked at your rebuild thread, one motor. It was just the throttle handle that didn't look correct. You should have this in your rebuild thread
Thanks for all the comments but it's not all plain sailing. This'll make you laugh though! As part of the helm rebuild I included a real walnut veneer instrument panel made from the original moulded plastic panel. Started off by taking all the old instruments out, covering the back with mat and resin to cover the holes, then filled and faired the front using epoxy filler. Then used contact adhesive to glue the veneer on and followed this with ten coats of varnish to give it a high glass and good protection. Planned the new instrument layout and carefully cut out the new holes. Fitted everything so that it looked great. Then put it in place on the boat and - - - - - - - - - - found that I'd done the whole thing upside down - Aaaaaaaarrrgggghhhh!!!
So I had to calmly take it all apart and start again. Luckily I had enough veneer for the second attempt which turned out better than the first as I had had some practice. Quite annoying actually. Pics show attempt 1. and attempt 2.
