I have 19' cuddy cabin with a 125 HP motor. Is it possible to ride this on the Susquehanna River from Scranton, PA all the way down to the Chesapeak Bay?

Thanks

No...if you have google earth, you can see that there are several dams/spillways and the good ole' Susquehanna can go from 100' deep to 1' deep. I live near TMI and I have a 24' cuddy and I can't even put in because it's to shallow in some spots. If you are familar with the channels you can boat some areas of the river. I boat down in the Long Level area (Lake Clark).

Just to get the ball rolling: I would say that the boat would make the distance but there appears to be 2 dams that do not have locks, So from a casual observation from a satellite map, no you can not. But it could be fun going as far as you can.

You might make it with a canoe. Even then, the dams would make for a rough ride.

You have to launch below the Coniwigo Dam down near Havre de Grace, MD to hit the Chessie from the Susky.

But, since you are coming from Scranton and are considering a long ride to the Chessie, you should launch somewhere into the Delaware River and head south the the C+D Canal (sea level; no locks), which connects the Delaware River to the Upper Chessie.

That, my friend is the move to make. Take the NE extension south til you can launch in the Delaware River somewhere.

I have heard (no direct knowledge) that the delaware river can get shallow once you are above the Trenton/Philly area. I recommend a chart of the area to check out water depth.

Correct. Getting to Trenton area or south is best.
