i just purchased a home in dauphin island alabama and with this home a 1990 mckee craft 198 center console was included i have owned almost 8 boats over the past year and all of them have been inboard/outboards with twin 5.7l merc's never had an outboard motor i need someone to explain to me the starting proccedure for an outboard and what maintanance issues i need to keep in touch of. i have no idea how to operate one of these motors please help.

dauphin,<br /><br />Your question is very general, yet I understand what you are thinking.<br /><br />What you are asking is far too difficult to describe here. Your basic operating-trim, throttle, etc. is not much different from an I/O.<br /><br />However, as far as maintenance and so forth goes. I would suggest having a qualified Yam. technician give the engine a once over. <br /><br />They should be able to provide you with, at least, photocopies of an owners manual that will describe starting procedures, etc.
