Suz DT150 gauge connections

On the Suzuki DT150 there is a tube connection thta Tees off just before the tell-tale marked "water press. That in turn connects to a tube in the flex conduit with control cables and wiring and I assume runs up under the dash. There is a second tube that comes up from the lower unit that too runs up under the dash.

When I look under the dash one tube (I can't identify one from the other) connects to an oil gauge, and the other to the speedo.

The oil pressure gauge on the dash has never worked and I assumed it was installed for four strokes.

My questions are:

Could it be that the oil pressure gauge is hooked to the water pressure line on the motor? The lower unit doesn't have a pressure sensor does it?

When I'm running I have water pour out of the flex conduit at the holes cut for the fuel priming bulb. Is this normal - or could there be a leak in the water pressure line?

Why does the speedo connect to the lower unit? Is there a speed sensor in the lower unit?

Of course I am assuming the two tubes from the engine are the same two that run to the dash.

Vessel is a Wellcraft Sportsman 210.

Thanks

you got a water leak
run the motor and find out where it is

Some one evidently used a oil pressure gauge to read coolant water pressure. The speedo works from water pressure/air pressure going through a tiny hole in the leading edge of the lower unit. One of these hoses has a leak and is dumping water into the rigging conduit.

Re: Suz DT150 gauge connections

The advice pretty much mirrored what I thought was wrong. Because the leak was at idle it had to be a result of the tube running to the oil gauge. I discover that the tube had a slash and two holes at the point that the fuel line exited the conduit. I guess a "pro" at either the dealership or Wellcraft got a little carried away adding cutting the conduit.

Perhaps it happened when the dealer changed out faulty control cables just a couple of weeks after I took delivery.

I have to say that I am a little concerned about the wiring now, so one of these days I'll take it all apart and make sure everything is ok.

I have to admit that I am a little shocked that the fuel line is joined at the top using s/s hose clamps - which have some pretty sharp edge - with all the critical wiring unprotected and squashed in the conduit.

Anyway --- Thanks for the advice.

One last question - are priming bulbs absolutely necessary on fuel injected engines? I've heard different opinions.
