Does anyone have any information on the four stroke o/b motors from Suzuki?
I was wondering mainly of any major known problems. My father in law is looking at a 2008 Doral 170 with a Suzuki four stroke 115 o/b. I dont know anything about Suzuki motors.
Thanks for any advice and info.

I have a 2008 DF40 on my pontoon. The clock now shows 25 hours and it has been flawless. Their four strokes have been around for quite a few years now and have a good reputation for durability. "Making Oil" has been an issue on lots of four strokes but I've not heard of that issue with Suzuki. Mine is now due for it's first oil change and it has not used a drop.

I have a 2005 Johnson 115 4-stroke OB. In the last years of the larger Johnson 4 stroke OBs, they were all made by Suzuki and is the identical motor to the one you mentioned. I have had zero problems with this motor. I recommended it highly.

Re: Suzuki 115 O/B

I purchased a new pontoon boat this year with a 115 Suzuki 4 stroke. Have roughly 65 hours on it now.

Performance is great, fuel economy is great, and best of all, it is very quiet.

I have a neighbor with a 150 4 stroke Yamaha on his pontoon, and he swears mine is quieter than his.

Based on a short span of owning mine, I would highly recommend the 115 Suzuki.

Re: Suzuki 115 O/B

Having had a 25 hp Mercury on my last boat I now have a 2007 Suzuki 115 O/B on my new boat and have had no problems at all. It is responsive, very quiet at idle, and at 5mph speeds. It has good torque going from low speed to high very easily. So far it seems very good on gas (helped by the EFi) and has used no oil.

Previously I only knew about Mercury's & Yamaha's but now having experienced the Suzuki I would have no problem recommending it along with the others :)

I was talking to my mechanic the other day and he was impressed by the Suzuki and owns one himself. I have never heard a complaint from anyone and I will probably buy a Suzuki for my kicker.
