Ok I have read several posts trying to get a little insight on whats going on with my engine. I have a 16ft bowrider, with a 115 hp suzuki outboard. Bought the boat used, owner said that he had not used in about 6 months. We took the boat out to the lake and it ran good..no problems. @nd time out not so lucky..while cruising along at about half throttle..it started dying out like it was out of gas.

After that it was constant priming, it would eventually start back up..have to increase throttle for a little bit...I would engage it into drive at about half throttle..seemed like we were barely moving. i f I increased the speed it would eventually die. Kept this up for a hour..we were lucky to get it back.

Since then.. 1. emptied out old fuel. 2. cleaned fuel tank. 3.purchased an auxillary gas tank with fresh fuel(89 octane). 4. replaced fuel seperator filter.

Ran engine with water hose connected yesterday, with fresh fuel. Idled ok..seemed like a miss..shifted into gear..continued running..seemed like it was idling low...anywho any help would be appreciated.

Just dont want to get caught out in the lake with a boat that don't run.

Re: Suzuki 115hp

Sounds like a bad fuel pump. If you have to prime to keep her runnig then that is the most likely problem.
Also beware if you have made any changes to the fuel hose or fittings then you could have an air leak in the line.

You might want to check your fuel filter also, after sitting it might have gotten a slug of varnish or dirt in the filter, Suzuki's have a very fine screen on the filter so it is something easy to check!!!
