Once you have completed overhaul of the carbs, a link and sinc will need to be done and other minor but important checks to the fuel/oil delivery system etc.
I suggest you get your self a manual as the step by step tune up procedures and specs will all there.
Apart from basic tools, a multimeter, DVA peak reading meter and DVA adaptor, are good to have close by even if you can borrow these, but a timing light, Tach, vacuum and pressure gausges are essential for tune ups and checking fuel system. You may be able to borrow some of this gear from your mates.
