i bought this motor dt9.9c "97" i belive ,last spring,test drove it before i bought it no probs ran good started no prob. put it on my boat took it out 3or 4 times ok start and stop .the weather got warmer, started it at the dock no prob ,stopped fished would not start again, got home tried again started, this happened about 3 more times i tried chaging the plugs on the water no help,i was getting plenty of gas it was flooding out.brought home, cked compression good it started in the barrel again. do u think the cdi unit is getting hot and causing to shut down ?is there a way to test it ? i did get it to start once after it died but it spit and sputtered and died again
<br /><br />You can heat test your CDI unit with a hair dryer. Crank her up in the tub or with muffs and the bonnet off.<br /><br />Heat the CDI unit up with the hair dryer. If it dies let it cool and try to start her again.<br /><br />Good luck.
