Hey guys, first time user, but always read threads... I have a 95 suzuki 75 hp. i recently replaced lower unit seals and impeller but am now having some issues with other things? the motor pumps water very strong when submerged but does'nt seem to pump with the rabbit ears. is there not a good seal or what? Problem number 2 is that from time to time. the motor sounds like it misses or hickups with a high piched chirp and then stalls either at low rpm or when in idle. immidiately afterwards, the motor will start right up and run fine. ??? timing??? The 3rd and final problem that im experiencing is thus; i had four people on the boat for the first time since repairs to impellar and lower unit and it ran great up until the point of WOT. then and alarm sounds and blows white smoke from the exhaust for a second. then it seems to stop and run good again. its not overheating because it pees strong and can set my hand on motor while running for at least 6 seconds. I dont have any guages on CC. so i cant tell which alarm it is. never had an issue at high speed before, so i am inclined to think that it might be high rev alarm?? what should i do? i just put $1100 dollars into the motor at a shop when i took it in for the water pump and they declined to tell me before they literally ripped lower unit off motor! so, either get a bag of parts or have them do the work.Great Business, Huh! anyways i just want it to be reliable to take off-shore. please help, i dont know that much but do have service manual.

Re: Suzuki alarm help!

On the ear muffs it will always pump weak as it doesn't seal everywhere so don't worry about that too much, the chirp sound is called a lean sneeze, but you should worry about it, most older suzi's does it ...... the alarm from WOT could be that you trimmed out too much causing the waterflow to be a bit weak even though it seemed like it was pumping fine, but check your thermostat just in case ......

Re: Suzuki alarm help!

when the motor is cold the "lean sneeze" happens .... it is not something that is broken, it just happens ... it is when the motor dies on the wrong compression stage and the air pressure still in the cylinder forces the air out making the sneeze sound .....

Re: Suzuki alarm help!

ripping off a lower on a salt water suzuki that hasnt been maintained with yearly case removals as per service manual is common. usually I can tourch them enough to drop them.

lean sneeze is the air fuel mixture in the crankcase is so lean it ignites in the crankcase instead of the cylinder.
on a 4 stroke you would see flame and smoke shooting from the throttle bore.
on a 2 stroke the reeds seal the crankcase so the explosion now occurs under the piston instead of on top of the piston and actually tries to force the piston that is now coming down back up.
it can damage crankshafts and destroy bearings.
it needs carb attention.
may just need an idle air fuel adjust to a carb teardown.

on the alarm at WOT, it could be overheat,it could be oil flow due to a clogged screen,it could be over rev,
without the monitor its hard to tell.
