Ok, I love my 2002 DF-50 Suzi....but....Everytime I start, it's buzzer grates me to no end! Is there a way to disable it? I have the expensive $70.00 factory manual, but it really does not show where it is. It goes off for just 5 seconds, BUT?

I will have either a delay curcuit, or other switch arraingement so it does let me know if there are engine problems IE: low oil pressure, maintenance schedule etc.

I like this feature, it's just that it is really way too loud to have scream in the middle of the night while at anchor or at the Marina...wakes the damn dead!!!!!! Again this is just when the key is turned to start it, that I want to remove, I am sure this is because of the no/low oil pressure, but yikes!!!!

Thanks for all who can help!

Re: Suzuki Buzzer Removal...Help!

Hi,
I had a Suzuki outboard before and the buzzer (sound alarm "speaker") was in remote control box (I had a NA12S).

I do not know if it still this way for newer Suzuki outboards.

Here is a picture of remote control NA12S:
NA12S.jpg

I had a Seloc manual for my Suzuki DT65 where the remote control was described, also inside. The warning buzzer is a round thing, rather large, inside the remote control - I do not think you can miss it if you open the remote control. Assuming You have a NA12S remote control.

Good luck!
/Bo

Re: Suzuki Buzzer Removal...Help!

Thanks Bo,
Yep I got that far,(and that pic is the one I have BTW) but still cannot figure how to get to it etc....if others are interested, I will attempt to go the route I described and post my results....but if others have already done so, I'd be interested in their fix or ideas.

If I take that control apart, am I going to get parts scattering all over the place etc? These are what I need to know....thanks!

Re: Suzuki Buzzer Removal...Help!

Hi,

You open a NA12S on the backside (about 4 screws), very easy. Just open it carefully and all will go fine. If I can do it I'm sure most other people can do it also :)
I had mine opened because I installed new control cables (very easy by the way).
I agree with you that the buzzer sound is very loud - but it has to be rather loud if you are going to hear it at full speed. Best would be a buzzer sound that was louder as throttle was increased. At idle low sound, at full speed VERY loud.

/Bo

Bo,
Thanks! I will do this today, I guess I really want to know if I could cause more problems than I cure

As long as the computer etc. won't be affected, I will wire a switch to it, and later maybe a delay, again I welcome any further suggestions on this topic!

You can replace it with a new style buzzer that is not as loud.
