Hi Guys, Have a 2004 Suzuki DF 140 O/B, has 260 hrs on it, second owner, first owner serviced it 20 hrs ago. Started having probs when after launching, it would drop a 1000rpm, then come good, and do this for 15 mins or so, then was fine, next trip, didnt do it at all, next trip did it again, same as first time, today, after changing some fuel line that had splits, and the water/fuel seperator filter, did it again, and noticed engine has a misfire (sounds like) every 10 seconds or so, when first launched, was fine, then after 5 mins, I went to 4500rpm, and it would not go higher, and coughed n farted a lot, after another 5 mins, went fine, could not fault it, got me buggered, low/high pressure fuel filter? pull plugs and have a look? thanks.

Re: Suzuki DF 140 problems

when it was serviced 20 hrs ago what was done?
if the high pressure fuel filter was not replaced i would defenatly replace it.
you could hook up a fuel pressure gauge between the high pressure fuel filter and the fuel rail.
the fuel pressure should be around 35 psi at all times. (key on)
if not you have a fuel delivery problem. run it until it fails and look at the gauge. if it at any time drops you have a fuel problem.

drain the vst and carefully look at the fuel.
if its contaminated i would clean out the whole fuel system.
meaning from the tank to the fuel rail.
the only difficult thing is if you have to clean out the vst you will have to take the intake manifold off.

any other system should in most cases set of a code.

also we have seen a problem with the key switch that would not set of a code and drop rpms somethimes.
