Suzuki DF70 trouble light code

I'm getting a code 1-4 cylinder temp sensor. Just put this motor on 1st time got this code run for 5 min try to clear code but still there.Any suggestion.

If there when putting on ignition and engine not running, check cable connections and temp switch for short. Put ign 'ON', remove cable from sensor and light should disappear.

The came on after mounting the engine on the boat, I turned the key on but motor not running. I was thinking it was a sensor, but your answer makes more since.

Just did a double check and noticed it is a sensor and not a switch. If no broken connection, do an ohm-test. If not mistaken the ohm should increase with increased temp. Hook up the meter (red on sensor -black to ground) at cold engine and start, the ohm should increase as engine gets warmed up. Sure your engine is not running hot???

The code is telling you the cylinder temp sensor system is defective, like sensor, wires, connections, ecm. Up to you locate the problem and repair. You do this with a meter and manual. Some of these sensors were defective when new. Dealer service bulletins has the year and model of engines with defective sensors. 2 temp sensors on this engine, the 2 readings are compared by ecm, if out of specs will set code.
