I am working on a pontoon boat for a friend, I got the motor running but the only way to shut it off is to pull the spark plug wires, I even disconected all the wires to the key switch and the darn thing still idles. Please HELP.
Outboards use the key switch or kill switch to ground the wire from the ignition to turn off the motor. Disconnecting the wires will not turn off the motor. Check your grounds and get a manual for that motor to see were the wires all go.
