At full throttle my 65 HP does n't accelerate, but slowly dies. After having turned up RPM's in neutral and a quick shift forward it runs normal. Motor does n't run more than one month a year, and no salt water. Also after having tilted the motor in the harbor by trim/tilt installation the motor shows the same behavior. Is this a question of cleaning carb's, or more fuel pump prob's?

clean the carbs and the fuel pump as well as swab out the fuel lines, does not take much and fuel wont go to the crankcase.use a vacum guage at the fuel pump intake to check for restrictions between the liquid level in the tank anf the fuel pump. vacum in excess of 4"Hg indicates a leak and lass than .5-1"Hg indicates an air leak.

Re: Suzuki DT 65

I have a DT65 also. Engine runs great on water belt but when it is put in the water and the prop has a load it will not build up RPMs and will even die out. I have had the carbs rebuilt, new fuel tank and line, also new connections. Still doing the same. I am now looking at the CDI. Found very low voltages from CDI to coils. Also after performing the 4 test in the manual I found all voltages are very low. May be something wrong with the mag. If any one is reading this any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Re: Suzuki DT 65

mako7n7,
Maybe fuel pump does not pump enough fuel? New rubber diaphragm set for the fuel pump may help. Check brownspoint.com website for spare parts. Also clean the fuel filter unless you have done that.
I assume You have correct spark plugs and correct gap on them.
And new fuelbulb unless you know it is OK.
Since it is maybe a fuel delivery problem (but it could be something else also) you must check hole chain from fuel tank, lines, bulb, fuel pump, filter, carburators etc.

I had a Suzuki DT65 (1991) before so I'm rather familiar with this outboard. I use Yamaha F115 4-stroke today.

mako
test the CDI charge coil inputs loaded and unloaded, the CDI does not amplify anything and low voltage in will be low voltage out.
what meter are you using and what voltages are you getting ?
