Hi all,
I have a 1989 suzuki dt140 that runs great except at idle. if I disconnect the throttle control sensor it will idle fine. the idle control sensor is set to the proper voltage .51 volts at this time. i traced the wires to both the cdi unit and to the #2 coil on the magnito. i don't seem to be getting the proper voltage out of the magnito. could this be a problem for idleing? any and all comments or any and all ideas to where i should go from here would be wecome.
thanks
jas

Re: suzuki dt140 idle problems

I assume you have turned the idle knob to full right....faster idle.
What rpm does it idle at with the muffs on and in the water?

The question you have about voltage could be an issue and others may ring in here on it. On my DT140 I thought the throttle position sensor was set fine with voltage/ohm until I took it to a Suzuki service tech. My $300 meter was not as calibrated in decibels as his $600 one. He set it and idled great afterwards

thanks for your reply hopalong. I will try another meter first
thanks again

well I tried different multimeters and found the voltage to be within a couple hundreths of a volt with each. so I still have my idle problem.
