Suzuki DT150 idling problem

I wasn't aware that outboards don't have airfilters. I called the Suzuki dealer and he said that the motor doesn't have a filter. I told him that my motor runs great in the driveway with muffs on it but when i put it in the water it stalls out. He told me to clean out my carbs and that would fix the problem. There was a little trash in the bowls and i was running stale gas. Will cleaning the carbs make it run in the water or do I need to do something else? I know fresh gas will definitely help. I also have a busted plugwire case, will that effect it as well?

Yes cleaning the carbs will help, you need to soak in carb cleaner and blow out with compressed air ..... change your plug wire aswell, it is cheap and easy .....

Thanks man. I checked the compression and its fine but i still have to adjust the air flow through each carb to balance them out. Does the sensor on the bottom carb need to be rotated to adjust it so the motor runs better?
