Looking at buying a 1999 EFI, Suzuki DT200. Can be had for $2500 with extra lots of extra parts and extra lower unit. SUZI SS prop 20 pitch. This motor looks clean enough to eat off of and runs good too. Very low hours

What do you folks think about this motor quality and performance? Is that a good deal?

Thanks in advance.

Guess there are no Suzuki fans in this section of the board.

i have a 1988 dt 200 with 564 hours on it and it runs great, i have been trying to get an answer on an oil pump question, and you are right, there arent many people that answer Suzuki questions.

Suzuki arguably makes the best outboard out there. The DT series has proven reliable and their oiling systems and electronics are the best. The DF series as 4 strokes go are the same.
However it is my opinion and it is only my opinion, that the 4 stroke outboard motors in general are a big mistake.

I have purchased a DF140 that was on a starcraft superfisherman 180. It is an awesome motor, my second Suzuki outboard.
I troll with this motor and have no problems.

The Suzuki DT series is one of the easiest motors to work on, I work on them along with all the others.
The electronics have proven very reliable and that takes care of syncronization and advance retard, which is usually a pain with the mechanical sync motors.
The lubrication is taken care of by a proper gear driven pump with an oil tank mounted in the motor housing. No tank on the deck with hoses that can come loose. Mercury eventually recognized the advantages and followed. OMC continued with their VRO diaphragm system which worked but was suspect.
Attention to regular service, especially the carbs, as with all two strokes, is a must.
Just my bit for what it's worth.

What are your thoughts on the fuel injection 2 stroke dt200 1999 version?

Sorry to say that I have little to no experience of the fuel injection motors.
