suzuki dt25 1992 reverse switch

Hey Group, Reverse switch is damaged and removed prior to my purchase of this outboard.A black and a Grey/Red wire used to go to this switch. When this circuit is closed the idle picks up. open circuit it slows down. (idle speed).It goes to IC ignition module so I guess it advances the timing. Can I just leave this circuit closed(black plugged into red/grey) and just run it like that? Any info on functioning of this IC ignition is much appreciated ..or where do I go to learn more about this system....many thanx,Paul

just buy a new one and get it fixed right
