HI,
I have a Suzuki DT4 when I remove the flushing plug while the motor is running I get a full volume of water and pressure, however no water comes out the pee hole just exaust pressure.Does anyone have any ideas. Is my motor over heating even if water sprays out the flushing hole? Thanks for the help.

Re: Suzuki DT4 water circulation problem

This an old thread so I'm sure you figured it out by now
but for those who end up here searching because of the same problem, here you go...

I had the same symptoms while running my motor in a bucket of water.
when you pull off the rubber clutch rod inspection/adjustment port cover, the pisser has a nice stream of water
when you cover it up it will still pee until you rev it and then it will stop

here's why (in my case)...
when you have the port cover off, the exhaust flows out the the open inspection port and not into the bucket of water
when you replace the plug the exhaust is diverted normally and causes turbulence in the bucket
if you rev it at that point, it will create so much turbulence it will cause cavitation in the pump and the water will stop pumping/cooling
if you pull the cover off again, the turbulence in the bucket will stop and it will re-prime and resume pumping water

on your boat this won't be a problem, there won't be enough turbulence created by the exhaust to cause water pump cavitation

I'm guessing most of the cooling/no water flow questions on this board after installing a new impeller are related to this scenario

now go boating :p
