Suzuki DT65 has lack of power under load and appers not to get full rpm range

I have a 1981 suzuki dt65. I just put new spark plugs in this weekend but noticed that under load the motor does not perform as it should. I also noticed that the rpm's weren't going as high as they should.<br /><br />Does any one have an idea what it could be. The motor cranks up perfect and accelerates fine but has no top end power.

1. Check compression.<br />2. Check spark with a spark tester.<br />3. If 1 & 2 are good then pull the carbs and do a thorough cleaning/rebuild with carb cleaner and compressed air. Unless you've gomered a cylinder or one of the cylinders isn't firing its probably dirty carbs.

Hi,<br />Also check the fuel pump (rubber diaphgram set) so it is not in bad shape. Anyway, press the rubber fuelbulb while running to see if it helps to get better force at load. If that helps it indicate that it is a fuel delivery problem and the outboard does not get enough fuel under load.<br /><br />I had a Suzuki DT65 (1991) before, great outboard (I use Yamaha F115 4-stroke, 2003, now).<br /><br />Good luck!
