I have Suzuki 1985-1987 DT65 motor.
Problem description:
After turning a key in on position beeping sounds every 4sec and red light comes on. After starting motor beeping sounds every 4sec and red stays on. Water is running from a peehole. This is first time on the lake after winter. I don?t have a manual, is this beeping ok when key is in on position??
I have traced wires that go to water sensor and disconnected them and beeping and red light stops.
I have tried to check water sensor for connectivity, nothing. Is this is good way to test the water sensor??? Is any other way to test?? Is a something I am overlooking?
Don?t have a lot of experience with outboard motors.
Just want to make sure my troubleshooting is correct.
I have found new water sensor on brownspoint.com. Is any other website for Suzuki parts?
Thanks in advance

Re: Suzuki DT65 water sensor problem

The sensor you?re talking about is a water flow sensor. It has a kind of flap that hangs down into the water jacket. It the flap is stuck or broken you will get an alarm. Pull the sensor out and inspect.
