Hello,
I have 2 concerns today. Motor has been running hot-took thermostat out as prescribed by my mechanic. Will engine ever run too cold now here in Fla.? Or should I locate a new thermostat? Since removal of thermo., black oil runs out of foot after running engine on muffs? Not a whole lot, but still a puddle. It is coming out of thru hub exhaust. Foot gearcase oil is full and clean. Oil injection flow sensor has been disconnected( I bought this motor about 2 mths ago)and bypassed. Oil tank is half full, but I have always been using 50:1 with gas because not sure oil injection is working right or not. Will there be a problem with engine getting too much oil now? Should i just keep doing this? Sorry for long post, Thank you in advance. FLfisher

hello
dude
you really really should find a real mechanic. look on the wall for his school participation certifications.
the senor has nothing to do with whether it oils or not. all the sensor does is detect a vacum in the oil line and give an alarm if the filter plugs up. the thermostat is also part of the water pressure system. without it a lot of good engeneering is wasted. put the t-stat back in it. one of the big failures with suzuki engines was cold siezure of the piston due to forged pistons being used. but any tech that will tell you on that engine just to leave out the t-stat is not giving advice that is in your best intrest.
good luck and keep posting

Had the same problem. Impeller is most likely bad. Any water out the pee hole? As for oil in discharge, seems that you are running too much by premix and bypassing the injector. May be the problem their. As for t-stat, put one in, about $6-10 with gasket.
:)

Also bear in my that this particular engine has issues with the original head gasket. If the engine has overheated repeatedly you may want to pull the head and replace the head gasket. Check the head for flatness and have it decked if necessary. When you replace the water pump impeller (which you should do, also check the stainless pump housing. If there is a lot of grooving on the inside of the housing, replace it also. Check the rubber grommet seal of the water pump tube where it inserts into the pump housing. Install an after market temp gauge.

Listen to Rodbolt on the oil injection. The Suzuki system is very good if kept up. Get a manual or have a competent mechanic check the output of the oil injection (it isn't difficult). If yours isn't working, it probably just needs a new filter, check valves, or tubing.

Rodbolt,Thom,JimD,
Thanks to all the replies. I'll try a new impeller and thermostat first. I have found another post here that explains how to check the oil pump. Thanks again. I'll see how all this goes and run her in the river for a real test.
