I have a 1987 suzuki dt 85 with certain problems. First: I repaired the power trim/tilt unit recently but now doesnt work, could be a fluid problem but I dont know how to do it. Second: The motor start right up and idles ok but when I throttle up its turn off. I think is a carburetor problem.

I will appreciate any suggestion to solve the problems.

Thanks so much

Trim motor: What repair did you perform on the trim motor? Can you hear the trim motor run when you move the power trim switch up or down? Is the power trim sender unit cable (4 wires) plug connector snug and making good contact?
Outboard motor: is the primer bulb primed, when you pump it does it get hard? And is the fuel in the tank old? How long has it been since the motor ran at full throttle?
Give a bid of history of what you know about the outboard.

Trim: actually we repaired the tilt and trim cylinder because there was a fluid leak. the O-ring were replaced. The trim motor is good because I can hear the trim motor run when i move the power trim switch up or down but dont lift neither down the motor. The valve body has four pipe connection, I dont know which ones are inlet or outlet. I think is a purge problem but I dont know how to do it.

outboard motor: The motor was recently overhauled (pistons, rings, fuel pump, etc) the carburetors were disassemble and cleaned. all nozzles apparently look good. Recently we proved it and The motor start right up and idles ok but when you throttle up its try to turn off (forward).
then a guy helped us . I throttled up and he choked the carburetors repeatedly and the motor ran ok at full rpm!!!

Trim motor: you probaly need to bleed the air out of the motor. When I get a chance I will read up on the trim motor bleed set up...maybe others here know
Outboard: Check the primer bulb, is it hard and stays hard after you pump it up, and when the motor is throttled up does the bulb get soft? If it does try pumping the buld while throttling up.
Recheck your fuel pump diaphram as well as the fuel filter.
Also are the carb fuel mixture screws adjusted out correctly.
You do have a fuel flow problem, finding it is key. Could be the reeds?

Thanks hopalong. when you talk about primer bulb, do you refer to the pump squeeze connected to fuel tank hose?.
