Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum, and really hoping some of you can give me your 2 cents on this So I put my boat away for winter, but never treated the gas. First time out this year, it ran horrible. Kept dying, would bog down etc. I took all the carbs off and gave them a thorough cleaning. Put the boat in the water, starts up great, but there is almost no power. Max speed was 6mph. It wasn't bogging down this time, and wouldn't quit. Did I screw something up with the throttle when i took the carbs off?? I'm lost here, any help is appreciated

Sounds like the linkage isn't hooked up correctly, does the timing advance when throttling up?

I was guessing something to do with the linkage. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the timing advancing, what is that like?

The throttle and timing should both move when you advance the throttle, there should be a rod and some pivot points that end up under the flywheel, there should also be an adjustable stop it should ride against at full throttle.
