My manual for my 1985 dt85 under carb removal says to remove the choke and throttle rod. It looks like the throttle rod is a fixed washer on the rod at the top carb connection. How is the throttle rod removed? also should there be butterfly plates on all three carbs?

Re: suzuki dt85 throttle rod

There is a rod (choke rod)that connects the choke butterflies on all three carbs. The rods have plastic connectors and snap onto the balls on the carb linkage and can be carefully unsnapped (pryed off) of the balls. There is another rod of similar construction that connects the throttle butterflies of all three carbs and is disconnected similarly. On some models the length of the rods is adjustable (turnbuckle). To remove the carbs you have to disconnect them from each other and the linkage that goes to the ignition advance. Make sure you put them back in the same place (top, middle, and bottom).
